- TXR International by Summit
The TXR International Dragon Elite and Dragon Classic are line-powered portable X-ray systems for portable care providers, nursing homes, home health services, clinics, and small hospitals. Available in 4 kW and 8 kW configurations, they combine vehicle-friendly transport, flexible positioning, operator-accessible controls, and DR upgrade capability.
TXR International Dragon for Easier Transport & Positioning
TXR International is a trusted brand of Summit Industries. The TXR Dragon is built for imaging workflows that require X-ray equipment to travel between patient locations. Long rear rails support vehicle loading and unloading, while the compact wheeled platform and flexible arm help operators transport and position the system at the point of care.
Key benefits include:
-
- Vehicle-friendly portable design
- Long rear rails for loading and unloading
- Flexible tube arm positioning
- 4 kW Dragon Classic and 8 kW Dragon Elite configurations
- Technique controls at the console and tube head
- Five collimator-light activation points
- Membrane or touchscreen APR console options
- Analog-to-DR retrofit capability
The Dragon is a line-powered system and requires compatible AC electrical service at the imaging location. Electrical requirements differ between the Dragon Classic and Dragon Elite configurations.
TXR Dragon Classic vs Dragon Elite: 4 kW or 8 kW?
TXR International offers the Dragon in two generator configurations. The Dragon Classic provides 4 kW output with broader input-voltage compatibility, while the Dragon Elite increases generator capacity to 8 kW and requires 220-240 VAC electrical service.
TXR Dragon Classic: 4 kW
The Dragon Classic uses a 4.0 kW high-frequency generator with a 40-125 kVp range and output up to 100 mA.
Dragon Classic highlights:
-
- 4.0 kW maximum power
- 100-240 VAC, single-phase, 50/60 Hz
- 40-125 kVp range
- Up to 100 mA
- 0.5 mm and 1.8 mm focal spots
- 47,215 HU anode heat content
- Optional laser light collimator
The Classic provides the broader input-voltage range of the two Dragon configurations, making available electrical service an important consideration when selecting between models.
TXR Dragon Elite: 8 kW
The Dragon Elite increases maximum power to 8.0 kW while maintaining the same 40-125 kVp range and maximum 100 mA station.
Dragon Elite highlights:
-
- 8.0 kW maximum power
- 220-240 VAC, single-phase, 50/60 Hz
- 40-125 kVp range
- Up to 100 mA
- 0.6 mm and 2.8 mm focal spots
- 40,000 HU anode heat content
- Standard laser light collimator
The Elite is the higher-output Dragon configuration and requires compatible 220-240 VAC electrical service.
Both models use a 300 kHz high-frequency generator design, support the same APR console choices, and can be converted to a DR-ready configuration.
Automatic Power Regulation & Self-Diagnostics
The TXR Dragon monitors incoming line power during operation. If the system detects an undesirable voltage drop, it can automatically reduce output to help prevent potential electronic failures associated with insufficient incoming power.
Automatic line-voltage compensation and output adaptation help the Dragon account for changing line conditions when operated from compatible electrical sources.
TXR International Dragon Clinical Applications
The TXR International Dragon is intended for imaging environments where the X-ray system needs to travel to the patient or move between care locations.
Nursing Home & Home Health Imaging
Portable care providers can transport the Dragon to nursing homes and home health locations where bringing X-ray equipment to the patient is more practical than transporting the patient to a fixed imaging department.
Rear transport rails, a compact transport position, and the wheeled platform support workflows that require repeated loading, unloading, and repositioning between patient visits.
Clinic & Small Hospital Radiography
Clinics and small hospitals can use the TXR Dragon when a compact, movable radiographic system is appropriate for their imaging workflow and a permanently installed X-ray room is not required.
Available 4 kW and 8 kW configurations allow buyers to select generator output based on imaging requirements and available electrical service.
How the TXR Dragon Controls Simplify Exam Setup
The TXR International Dragon places key imaging controls within easy reach of the operator to simplify technique adjustment and positioning during exam setup.
Console & Tube-Head Technique Controls
Radiographic techniques can be selected and adjusted at either the main control console or the generator/tube head.
This dual-control arrangement gives operators access to technique settings from more than one position around the system.
Five Collimator Light Activation Points
The collimator light can be activated from five different locations on the Dragon.
Multiple activation points allow the operator to manage collimation and positioning without repeatedly returning to a single control location.
1-Region Membrane or 6-Region Touchscreen APR
Both Dragon Classic and Dragon Elite are available with either a 1-region APR membrane console or a 6-region APR touchscreen console.
The 6-region touchscreen provides APR selections for:
-
- Skull
- Thorax
- Spine
- Abdomen and pelvis
- Lower extremities
- Upper extremities
Small, medium, large, and pediatric patient-size selections are also supported.
Available interface languages include English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Polish, and Turkish.
TXR Dragon Digital Radiography Upgrade Options
The TXR Dragon can be converted from an analog radiographic system to a DR-ready configuration, allowing facilities to retain the underlying portable X-ray platform while moving to digital image acquisition.
Convert an Analog TXR Dragon to DR Ready
The optional DR Retrofit Kit converts a standard analog Dragon to a DR-ready configuration. TXR International states that the retrofit can convert an analog Dragon to DR Ready in approximately one hour.
The retrofit provides a digital upgrade path without replacing the underlying Dragon generator and portable chassis.
Compatible with Dragon Classic & Dragon Elite
The DR Retrofit Kit:
-
- Fits 4 kW Dragon Classic systems
- Fits 8 kW Dragon Elite systems
- Mounts to membrane-console configurations
- Mounts to touchscreen-console configurations
- Supports an existing compatible DR system or available flat-panel options
This upgrade path allows buyers to select the Dragon configuration that fits current radiographic needs while retaining the ability to incorporate DR.
