The Oakworks Rectangular Top Ultrasound Table, including models 68666-T and 61989-T, is a powered flat-top sonography table for abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal, superficial-structure, and ultrasound-guided biopsy procedures. Its electric height and ±15° tilt provide straightforward patient positioning without a Fowler or multi-section tabletop.
Oakworks General Rectangular Top Ultrasound Table Highlights & Benefits
The Oakworks Rectangular Top Ultrasound Table combines a continuous flat tabletop with powered height and Trendelenburg/reverse Trendelenburg positioning. Available in 27 in. (69 cm) and 30 in. (76 cm) widths, the table provides a 550 lb (250 kg) patient capacity with configurable options for different ultrasound environments.
Key Benefits
-
- Continuous 72 in. (183 cm) flat rectangular tabletop
- Electric height adjustment from 22 to 38 in. (56 to 97 cm)
- Powered ±15° Trendelenburg/reverse Trendelenburg
- 550 lb (250 kg) patient weight capacity
- Choice of 27 in. (69 cm) or 30 in. (76 cm) tabletop widths
- Multi-function hand control
- 4 in. (10 cm) locking casters

The flat-top architecture distinguishes the General Rectangular Top from Oakworks tables with powered Fowler or multi-section positioning. It is suited to ultrasound workflows that need adjustable working height and whole-table tilt while maintaining a continuous patient surface.
How the Oakworks General Rectangular Top Supports Sonography Workflow
Powered Height & ±15° Table Tilt
Electric height adjustment allows the tabletop to move from 22 to 38 in. (56 to 97 cm), helping clinicians establish practical patient-transfer and sonographer working heights.
Powered Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg provide ±15° tilt. The entire tabletop angles as one continuous surface rather than independently raising the patient’s torso or legs.
Continuous Flat Tabletop for Straightforward Positioning
Unlike the current Oakworks General 2-Section and 3-Section tables, the General Rectangular Top does not use an articulated Fowler backrest or powered leg section.
The 72 in. (183 cm) flat top is available in either a 27 in. (69 cm) or 30 in. (76 cm) width. This allows facilities to balance patient support, sonographer reach, and available room space while retaining a simple flat-top positioning platform.
Hand Control, Locking Casters & Configurable Base
A multi-function hand control operates powered height and tilt. Standard 4 in. (10 cm) locking casters allow the table to be repositioned within the room and secured for examinations.
Available configurations historically included both a central base locking system and a patient-lift-compatible base. These were alternative configurations rather than features designed to be installed together, making model, serial number, and installed configuration important when evaluating an existing table for parts or service.
Oakworks Rectangular Top Ultrasound Table Clinical Applications
The General Rectangular Top was developed for ultrasound environments where a continuous patient surface, adjustable working height, and powered table tilt support the required exam workflow.
Applications include:
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Superficial-structure ultrasound
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound
- Vascular ultrasound
- Ultrasound-guided biopsy procedures
The table is best aligned with examinations that benefit from adjustable height and whole-table tilt without requiring powered Fowler, leg-section, or specialty vascular positioning.
Facilities that need powered torso positioning can consider the current Oakworks General 2-Section Ultrasound Table. Applications requiring independent powered leg positioning may be better suited to the Oakworks General 3-Section Top Ultrasound Table.
Oakworks 68666-T & 61989-T Model Differences
The Oakworks General Rectangular Top was offered in two primary tabletop widths. Both models use the same basic flat-top architecture, powered height range, tilt capability, and patient weight capacity.
Oakworks 68666-T: 27-Inch Tabletop
The 68666-T uses a 27 in. (69 cm) wide by 72 in. (183 cm) long tabletop. The narrower surface can help preserve close sonographer access while providing the same powered height, ±15° tilt, and 550 lb (250 kg) capacity as the wider model.
Oakworks 61989-T: 30-Inch Tabletop
The 61989-T uses a 30 in. (76 cm) wide by 72 in. (183 cm) long tabletop. The wider surface provides additional patient-support area while retaining the same core powered positioning functions.
Certain historical options, including the manual sliding cardio panel, were limited to the 30 in. (76 cm) table configuration.
Oakworks General Rectangular Top Options & Accessories
General Rectangular Top tables could be configured with additional features based on patient access, room layout, and positioning requirements. Because installed tables can vary by age and configuration, compatibility should be verified before ordering replacement components or accessories.
Base, Control & Patient-Access Options
Historical factory configurations included:
-
- Central base locking system
- Full-function foot control for height and tilt
- Patient-lift-compatible base
- Side rails
- Accessory mounting plate
- Adjustable access/back support
- Manual sliding cardio panel on 30 in. (76 cm) tables
- Non-U.S. electrical configurations
The patient-lift-compatible base and central base locking system were alternative configurations.
Adjustable access/back supports could be configured on either side of the table and adjusted through five positions from 0° to 85° for additional access and patient support.
Side Rails & Ultrasound Access
Optional side rails provide additional patient support and fold down when they are not needed. The rails measure approximately 23.5 in. (60 cm) long by 6 in. (15 cm) high above the tabletop surface.
On the 30 in. (76 cm) 61989-T, an optional manual sliding cardio panel could provide an opening of up to 15 in. (38 cm) for additional scanning access when the installed configuration included that feature.
Arm Board, Table Extender & Headrest Accessories
Compatible accessories included:
-
- Detachable arm board
- T-rail adapter
- Table extender
- QuickLock headrest with AeroCel pad
The detachable arm board measures 5 x 20.5 in. (13 x 52 cm) and works with the T-rail adapter.
The 24 x 12 in. (61 x 30 cm) table extender adds approximately 12 in. (30 cm) of usable table length when installed, providing additional support for taller patients or examinations requiring greater positioning length.
Used Oakworks General Rectangular Top Tables, Parts & Service
The General Rectangular Top is not currently featured in Oakworks’ primary online ultrasound-table lineup, but 68666-T and 61989-T tables remain relevant to the installed and secondary equipment market.
Used Oakworks Rectangular Top Ultrasound Table tables may be available through MXR, subject to availability. Because used configurations can differ, the specific table’s model, serial number, controls, options, upholstery, mechanical condition, and electrical configuration should be verified before purchase.
MXR provides service, repair, and replacement parts support for installed medical imaging equipment. Facilities operating an existing 68666-T or 61989-T should provide the model and serial number when requesting support so service requirements and parts availability can be evaluated for that specific table.
Repair vs. Replacement Considerations for Older General Rectangular Top Tables
When Repairing the Existing Table Still Makes Sense
An existing Oakworks Rectangular Top Ultrasound Table may remain practical when its continuous tabletop, powered height, and ±15° tilt continue to meet the facility’s ultrasound workflow and the components required to keep it operational remain supportable.
Repair may be appropriate when the table still satisfies clinical and positioning requirements and the needed controls, electrical components, mechanical parts, or accessories can be sourced economically.
When Replacement Becomes the Better Option
Replacement becomes more relevant when parts availability limits repair, the table no longer meets workflow requirements, or the facility needs positioning capabilities that the flat-top design does not provide.
Other Oakworks Tables to Consider
The current Oakworks General 2-Section Ultrasound Table adds a powered Fowler backrest and uses different dimensions, height ranges, tilt capabilities, and available options. It can be considered when powered torso positioning is needed, but it should not be treated as an identical one-for-one replacement for the 68666-T or 61989-T.
The Oakworks General 3-Section Top Ultrasound Table adds further positioning flexibility through an independently powered leg section. MXR can help evaluate an existing table alongside service, parts, used-equipment, and current table options based on the facility’s workflow.
