Konica Minolta

The Konica Minolta KDR FMT X-Ray is a manual floor-mounted digital radiography system for low- to mid-volume general imaging. Best suited to facilities needing table and upright exams, it combines direct manual positioning, a 700 lb elevating table, tube-mounted controls, AeroDR detectors, and ULTRA imaging.

Konica Minolta KDR Floor-Mounted X-Ray Highlights & Benefits

The Konica Minolta KDR FMT is a floor-mounted digital radiography system built around manual tube positioning, an elevating table, and a wall stand. The configuration supports routine general X-ray imaging without requiring a ceiling-mounted tube crane, while tube-mounted controls keep key functions close to the technologist during positioning.

Key Benefits

    • Fully manual floor-mounted tube positioning
    • Tube-mounted control and image display
    • Motorized elevating table with 700 lb (318 kg) lift capacity
    • Four-way floating tabletop for positioning
    • Table and wall stand for upright, seated, and lying-down exams
    • AeroDR 14 × 17 in (356 × 432 mm) and 17 × 17 in (432 × 432 mm) detector configurations
    • ULTRA imaging software for digital image acquisition and processing
    • Multiple X-ray tube and generator combinations available

The KDR FMT X-Ray is best suited to facilities that need a complete table-and-wall-stand radiography room with direct manual positioning. The separate KDR FMT+ adds automatic detector tracking for workflows that require additional positioning automation.

Manual Tube Positioning & Technologist Controls

The KDR FMT uses a floor-mounted tube stand rather than an overhead tube crane. Technologists manually position the X-ray tube for table or wall-stand imaging, providing direct control over tube-to-detector alignment.

Counterbalanced Floor-Mounted Tube Stand

The fully counterbalanced tube arm is designed to remain balanced as the technologist moves it, supporting smooth manual positioning.

Preset mechanical stops at the midpoint, 90°, and 180° positions provide defined tube angles. Electromagnetic locks secure the tube after positioning and control longitudinal, transverse, vertical, and rotational movement.

Tube-Mounted Control & Image Display

A touchscreen mounted at the tube places generator controls and image information near the technologist during positioning.

Generator operation is available from both the system console and tube-mounted touchscreen. Field and center-alignment lights help align the X-ray field before exposure.

700 lb Motorized Elevating Table

The KDR FMT pairs its manually positioned tube with a motorized elevating radiography table rated for up to 700 lb (318 kg).

The four-way floating tabletop moves longitudinally and transversely, allowing the technologist to adjust alignment without repeatedly repositioning the patient. Foot controls operate table height, with an optional table-side control also available.

KDR FMT Table, Wall Stand & General Radiography Applications

The KDR FMT X-Ray supports both table and upright general radiography. Its elevating table and wall stand accommodate patients who are standing, seated, or lying on the table.

Clinical Environments

The KDR FMT can be well suited to low- to mid-volume general radiography workflows in:

    • Hospitals and health systems
    • Diagnostic imaging centers
    • Outpatient imaging facilities
    • Orthopedic and musculoskeletal practices
    • Urgent care and other clinics providing on-site general X-ray imaging

The system can serve organizations of different sizes when manual positioning and a dedicated table-and-wall-stand room fit their imaging needs.

Upright & Seated Exams

The wall stand supports examinations performed with the patient standing or seated. This gives the room upright imaging capability without limiting the system to table-based exams.

Table-Based General Radiography

The elevating table supports examinations performed with the patient lying on the table. Motorized height adjustment assists with patient access and positioning, while the floating tabletop helps align the anatomy with the imaging field.

General Radiography Applications

The combination of table and wall-stand positioning supports routine general radiography such as:

    • Chest imaging
    • Abdominal and pelvic imaging
    • Spine imaging
    • Upper and lower extremity imaging
    • Other routine upright or table-based X-ray examinations based on facility protocols

AeroDR Detectors, ULTRA Software & Image Processing

The KDR FMT can be configured with Konica Minolta AeroDR flat-panel detectors and ULTRA imaging software, combining the mechanical X-ray system with digital image acquisition and processing.

AeroDR Detector Options

Available detector configurations include:

    • 14 × 17 in (356 × 432 mm) AeroDR flat-panel detector
    • 17 × 17 in (432 × 432 mm) AeroDR flat-panel detector
    • Optional rotating detector holder, commonly called a bucky, for the 14 × 17 in (356 × 432 mm) configuration

Detector configuration can be selected around the positioning and workflow requirements of the imaging room.

For facilities evaluating high-resolution digital radiography, MXR also offers the Konica Minolta AeroDR HD flat-panel detector.

ULTRA & REALISM Image Processing

ULTRA imaging software supports digital image acquisition and detailed visualization of bone and soft tissue.

REALISM image processing works within the ULTRA platform to enhance contrast sensitivity and image sharpness, helping produce detailed radiographic images for review after exposure.

Tube & Generator Configurations

The KDR FMT is available with multiple X-ray tube and generator combinations rather than a single fixed configuration.

This allows the equipment configuration to be matched to the imaging requirements of the facility. Final tube and generator specifications depend on the selected system.

KDR FMT vs. KDR FMT+

The KDR FMT and KDR FMT+ share the same floor-mounted table-and-wall-stand radiography platform, but they are designed for different workflow needs.

The KDR FMT uses manual tube positioning and is best suited to low- to mid-volume general radiography environments where technologists prefer direct control over positioning.

The KDR FMT+ adds automatic detector tracking between the tube, table, and wall stand to reduce manual repositioning. It is designed for mid- to high-volume imaging environments where additional automation can help improve workflow efficiency.

Facilities comparing both configurations can explore the Konica Minolta KDR FMT+ X-Ray for more information about automatic tracking and FMT+ workflow capabilities.
