What to Look for in Ultrasound Repair Service

It’s never good when a machine breaks down. Especially when it’s an ultrasound machine that patients depend on. An ultrasound that isn’t working properly can cause problems. At a minimum, you will have annoyed patients; at the worst, you can misdiagnose patients and cause serious health consequences. When your ultrasound machine is on the fritz, you want to have a repair service you can count on. Knowing what to look for in ultrasound repair service will help you find a good one, and keep your systems running smoothly.

HIGHLY TRAINED TECHS

Ultrasound sonographers spend hours training on how to operate the machine, so don’t expect anything less from the service engineer or technician. As you try to decide what company to use, find out how much training their field service engineers receive. Ask how they choose their workers, how much education they require before hiring, and if they do background checks. You want to make sure that whomever they send to service your machine knows everything about it.

COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

Patient safety is the sonographer’s main concern. Patient and technician safety should be the main concern of the service engineer as well. The engineer should know how to properly and safely repair the machines. They should also have an eye for preventative maintenance. If a service tech sees a frayed cable and doesn’t repair it, that should be a red flag. It means that tech isn’t concerned about long-term safety. A frayed cable could electrocute the sonographer and patient.

TESTIMONIALS

Do some research on the company. Find out what previous customers think about their level of knowledge and service. Dig around the Internet, and check with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints against them. Keep in mind that people often only leave negative feedback, so take some of it with a grain of salt. Don’t let a few bad reviews turn you off; dig deeper, and find out what kind of company they really are.

KNOWLEDGE OF MANY MACHINES

You want to make sure that the service company knows how to repair different models. If you have a Logiq E9 ultrasound, you want to make sure they can service that. If you want to upgrade, or get a different model like the Vivid 7 or a different brand like Philips CX50, you want to know the company can fix it all. You also don’t want different service contracts for every piece of equipment you have. A good service company should be able to service anything you have or want.
