Electronic Parts Repair Technician

Fishers, IN

    Position Description:
    The Electronic Part Repair Technician repairs, tests and rebuilds medical parts, (PCB’s, Power Supplies, Control Panels, and various sub-assembly and LCD Monitors. The technician will conduct a variety of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies and parts to ensure the unit functions according to specifications after the repair or to determine cause of unit failure and repair the item. 

    Roles & Responsibilities:
    • Repairs, and tests individual parts and sub-assemblies.
    • Reflow high level IC’s (FPGA’s CPLD, etc.)
    • Soldering skills
    • Ability to identify components on sub-assemblies and PCB’s by type and function.
    • Modifies or develops instruments or devices for testing part function
    • Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used
    • Performs component-level repair of parts, power supplies, etc.
    • Connects unit to be tested to test equipment (test bed) and runs diagnostics
    • Reads display indicating electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, induction, and capacitance
    • Troubleshoot and repair PCB and power supply failures
    • Test ultrasound parts using diagnostic utilities
    • Perform board-level system repairs
    • Evaluate PCB, power supply, and system performance
    • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) on repaired PCBs, power supplies, and systems
    • Replace defective components including SMD
    • Specify consumable component parts needed for repair
    • Define and document repair processes
    • Document all testing and repair activities
    • Open, add time and materials, and close work orders
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and MXR Quality Systems requirements and the accurate documentation and reporting of work orders.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Requirements:

    Education & Certifications

        Required:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Associates degree in technical/electronics field or equivalent military training 
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or installation of medical equipment imaging equipment 
    • Ability to interpret error codes, defragment hard-drives, replace power supplies 

    Competencies
    • Excellent verbal and written English language skills
    • Proficient with MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook 
    • Experience with hand tools such as pliers, diagonal cutters, screw drivers, wrenches etc.
    • Ability to operate tools and machinery
    • Required to employ fine motor skills during installation and repair of medical equipment
    • Ability to work under a microscope as needed

    Physical Requirements
    • Able to lift and transfer objects weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion or up to 75 pounds with assistance from a team member.
    • Work with raw materials, hazardous chemicals and ESD
    • Ability to sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; balance; and twist, bend
